Lake Karapiro is 24 kms long, it is the longest of the eight hydro lakes on the Waikato River, the Waikato River being New Zealand's longest river at 425 kms long. The Karapiro Cruiser is the only function boat of its kind on Lake Karapiro therefore making this an exclusive unique experience to patrons of the Karapiro Cruiser.
The beautiful Lake Karapiro plays host to a number of national and international aquatic events each year, including waka ama, rowing, GP Hydroplanes, dragon boats, water skiing and yachting. Other major annual events that are in our area are the Mystery Creek Fieldays and the 2010 V8 Super Cars that will be held in Hamilton. The Maungatautari Ecological Island Trust is a wildlife reserve that is being reformed back to it's natural beauty and hosts a number of walks, an aviary and a 16 metre high viewing tower. This great attraction is only 15 minutes from the Karapiro Cruiser. Click here for more information.
The Waikato River Trails is a dream to create a series of river trails for free walking and biking that has become a reality in the Southern Waikato. Once completed, these trails will cover about 100km, winding their way along a path that encompasses the magic and beauty of native bush, exotic forest, historic landmarks, interesting rock formations and geological delights, grassed farmland, open reserve, boardwalks through significant wetland, and of course expansive lake and river views.
